What do I get
The World Record Encampment is an opportunity to break your personal record or a world record at the premier XC site in the world -Zapata County Airport. This year encampent includes lodging for some participants.
Some of what you get: record attempt towing, airport access, expert weather analysis, coaching by current world record holders on breaking your personal record, pilot briefings, basic maps, desert survival information, logistical co-ordination, FAI paperwork help, official observers on site, barograph printouts for certain instruments, discounts on lodging and food, special flight corridor, local phone line, air-conditioned bathrooms and lounge, transportation, and use of $100,000+ worth of tugs and equipment.

World Records
If you are a US citizen and going to go for a national or world record you will need to be a member of the NAA : and have an FAI Sporting License - The NAA/FAI Sporting License is required for any U.S. citizen entering an Air Sport competition or event sanctioned by FAI or, participating in a record attempt. You get this all from the NAA. Foreign participants need to check with their country before coming about what is required to submit a world record.
Survival
You will need everything mandatory for desert survival , some examples: Water, food, big hat, sunscreen, special clothing, cell phone, radio and good antenna, money, driver, gps (12 map, 3+, emap, etrex etc they can upload detailed maps) and most importantly an excellent attitude.
