Jeff Shapiro #4
Hometown: Missoula, Mt
Years Flying: 16
Local Club: Missoula Hang Gliding and
Paragliding Club
Gear: Wills Wing T2C, Rotor Vulto-S,
Flytec 6030/geko
Longest Flight: 154 miles in Forbes
Favorite Aspect of Hang Gliding:
How dynamic flying is. We get to start an adventure in ever changing
conditions allowing the need for constant adaptation to those
conditions. I love getting to run off a mountain, fly for hours, land
in some farmers field and have your bro land next to you. I also love
those special moments when after a good climb or on your way to land
after a good flight, a loop just feels right. Flying is very much
"dreaming awake".
More: When I'm not flying, I enjoy
teaching people how to fly, trying to design Hang Gliding equipment,
training raptors to hunt with my dog and me, and most of all, watching
my 4 year old daughter grow like a weed.

Favorite Aspect of Hang Gliding: The
synergy with nature and freedom you feel when you're flying over new
terrain with birds, or around clouds.
More: I enjoy teaching hang gliding and
feed off the energy of someone getting their first taste of
flight. Come fly with me in Santa Barbara. |
